Default Starter not working.

Background, 95 GSR, just had the engine swapped back into it after accident reconstruction. Tested and charged battery, tested starter. Grounds have all been checked and ground down for optimum conductivity.

Symptoms: Car will not crank. No clicking noises either. Car WILL start and run if you get it moving and pop the clutch. Anybody have any ideas as to what this might be?

Bad relay or ignition switch.

Replaced the relay and switch with good ones. Still nothing. Any other ideas?

The start works right? You said it had been tested so I'll assume its good. The best thing you can do is get out your voltmeter and start tracing the wiring back. The one other thing I'll tell you is to double check on your clutch switch....if its missing, unplugged or not installed/wired correctly, you'll get nothing.

Yeah I determined the clutch switch is good. I finally found the diagnostic section in my Helms for the stater. I bypassed the starter relay, and the ignition switch and the clutch switch by going straight from the battery to the solenoid and it still didn't start so I just bought another starter. It'll be here tomorrow and we'll see if that fixes it.

New starter didn't help. Someone on TI said something about a flywheel possibly being stuck. As improbable as this sounds I guess its possible so I'll try the starter while its hooked up but not bolted in place. If it spins then I know all the switches and hookups are good and theres a problem on the tranny end, otherwise it'll be time to start tracing wire.

Update: cleaned battery terminals (just in case), found out that if the car is on and you move the key to the on position the car dies as if it is running out of gas or stalling, the rpms just slowly drop over the time of about 3-4 seconds and then its off.

test and see if your getting 12V on the starter. if not, check wires, relays, fuses, and grounds.
