passing WA state emissions
i know its been gone over many times but i suck at searching.
depending on how strict is WA emmissions i wouldn't know if i had to get another ecu or something.. haha.. thanks for help in advanced.
96 hatch - OBD2 [stock harnesses] w/ b18 [OBD1] have cat on also.
ECU is stock obd2 one.. just using conversion harness.
how would i pass emissions with this setup..

assuming you dont throw a code for crank fluctionation sensor and everything else is workin right you should pass...if not do an obd1 conversion on the ecu and run a obd1 p72
OBD2 emissions in WA is easy. Make sure you throw no check engine lights (ecu must be test-ready meaning you have driven for a while without and CEL's) and make sure your gas cap works.

Yep but with an obd2 ecu and an obd1 motor hes gonna throw code 9 for crank fluctionation sensor....so he needs to go to obd1.

Umm if he goes obd1 then he can't pass at all. For OBD2 emissions they plug into the port by the fuse box. With and obd1 ecu running, he will fail automatically.
Wah? We had this exact set up in my friends ek and it passed with an obd1 gsr ecu. Obd2a ek using the ek wiring harness on a gsr motor. Im pretty sure the plug still reads even with the obd1 ecu.

last time i got emissions done they just said it dosent matter what motor you have in it, as long as it passes under the same qualifications the stock motor had to.
if you're not throwing any CEL you should be good... in washington if you fail they'll tell you what to fix and give you a free test. The thing is, If your car cant be tested because its not the correct obd2 they cant test it and will give you your money back right away. So the best thing to do is go down there and get tested and as long as you arent throwing an CEL I dont think it should be a problem
