just got a ticket...............help ?
i got a ticket for modified exhaust and modified intake......they said i need to state ref it ? what do i have to do ? this is in cali ............can i fight it....i have an apex'i exhaust street legal ??? isn't and cheap intake system......just need opinions of wat to do..........
Pay the tickets.
Or put stock equipment on when you go to court and hope it gets thrown out.
Honestly, California is soo different and bitchy when it comes to modified cars so I really cant be of more help than this because whichever laws I am used to in NJ are nothing compared to the Cali laws. I think "fighting" it probably isnt worth it for two bullshit fix-it tickets.
I'd just pay them and suck it up, or toss the stock **** on to have them hopefully scrap the ticket.
Good luck though man, I feel bad for the Cali guys..it makes modifying your car not even fun anymore. I dont know how you guys even stay in the game..props to all of you!

yeah put the stock stuff back on and go have it looked at. usually they will let you go. you have to make sure that you have verified CARB-EO numbers on all parts your buy to have them legal in CA... that limits your part selection to kinda crap though.

do that on the intake....if i'm not mistaken all cat-back exhausts should be legal unless it's too loud...i'm with your pain on that **** livin in cali man....sucks nuts out here...find an oem muffler and an oem or AEM intake for court then swap it back...
Basically you take your car to the state ref. They measure the sound of your exhaust and make sure your intake have a carb sticker on it and was design for that make, model and year of the vechical.
Btw, which Apexi exhaust do you have.

Depending on the exhaust you might be able to pass the sound test. If theres no way you think youll pass the sound test then just put the stock one on.

What type of intake do you have? If you go to the ref and show that your stuff is legal and they sign it (or give you a sticker) then you just take it to court and pay a 10 dollar fee and your set. If you bitch enough you could get the 10 dollar fee dropped as well.

When i had my ticket for modified exhaust i went to court and try and fought it. The officier made his first statemant section code ballalalla...(what ever it was. Should've wrote it down) that an officier required use of a sound meter to issue a modified exhaust.
As long as the exhaust doesn't exceed certain sound levels it should be legal cause anything behind the cat has nothing to do with emissions. As for intake, wtf. Modified intake really? I had no clue anyone, anywhere could be ticketed for that.
That's why I love the county in Tennessee I live in cause 1. there are no emissions tests out here. My 85 Sunbird had no cat whatsoever. Only way to get busted for it is if a cop on a whim decided to randomly look under my car. 2. a **** ton of vehicles, trucks especially, with modded exhausts that are just as loud if not louder than my EK so cops don't care. 1/3 of the cars and trucks out here have loud *** exhausts and cops could care less. Many of the cops' civilian vehicles are the loud ones.

Sounds like me out here in Georgia. Everyone has freaking monster trucks that are like 80 feet off the ground and have straight pipes. Cali sucks though man, I agree on the ticket for the intake, that seems kinda dumb? Good luck to you.
