Default Are the BLOX intakes really the same as SKUNK?

I keep hearing people say that the 2 are the same. And some people that have Skunk intakes act like someones making a threat on their life when this is said.

The guys at the local shop say go Blox. Because you save a little $$$ and its the same thing.

What have you guys heard?

I know that the Blox intake we just picked up has cast mold lines inside the runners. Not big, but theyre there.

Maybe Skunk grindes the mold lines inside their runners?

From what I've seen ... that is the only difference. At least between the original S2 and the Blox ... I believe the the Pro Series S2 is actually different. Hope this helps.

Should I remove the cast lines in the runners? Or would it really matter?

If you're referring to the cast lines inside the actual runners ... it won't really matter unless you're trying to maximize the performance that you can get out of it. Honestly the extra .1 hp you'd get by doing so without having it actually cut in half and polished and what-not wouldn't be worth it.

no they are not. the new(pro series) manifold skunk has is different. the old skunk2 manifold and the blox are about the same(a copy off the ITR manifold). alls Blox really does is copy off skunks old designs.

since you live in CA, I'd go for blox...its cheaper, it looks like stock (unlike the skunk2 one does), and it functions the same exact way as the skunk2 but half the price

well i dont see any other intake manifold that would remove the secondary? it sucks that we cant use itr intake manifold, so we have no other choice but to use blox or skunk2.

You're recommending the non-legal intake over the Skunk2 smog legal intake for someone in California?

if you were to buy the old skunk 2 vs. blox.. blox is better cause is cheaper but work the same.. if for some smog reason or scare of cop pulling you over, best bet is to get the pro series, it got carb# and etc...

also another reason why skunk2 is a little more expensive because its carb legal.

...my first gen skunk2 IM didnt have any carb numbers on it. Well it had some type of numbers that were stamped on the bottom of it but came off when I cleaned it. I'm just saying, if a cop tells you to pop your hood here in CA, the first thing they look for is bling bling aftermarket parts. Even if you have carb numbers, they can still be a dick and send you to the state ref for inspection. I just know that every time I've gotten pulled over, cops didnt know I had an aftermarket intake manifold. The skunk2 pro series manifold screams for attention in my opinion.

I thought the skunk2 was 64mm and the blox was 65mm, is there any truth to this?

doesnt really matter.. as long you have carb# and cop still being a bitch, state ref will automatic passed it for you.. trust me.
