Default OMG here we go again

ok, first gen crx, ive been having an electrical problem for the past few weeks but it appeared to go away, but it was back today

When I turn the key the starter does not engage. I can hear the solenoid popping the ring gear rotator out, but it doens't rotate. I know its popping out because i can hear it, but no rotation. I have replaced so many things that i dont know what is left. Ive done the pos/neg cables, starter, battery, grounds, ground wires, ign switch, everything. Eventually, if i keep trying the key for about 5 minutes, it eventually starts. I ve noticed when it does this the tach gets really really jumpy while its rotating before it starts. Like jumps to 4-5k.Anyone else exp this or know what it is?

Check for grounds, shorts, solid ( non-corrosive ) connections, and bench test your starter, test your ignition for currernt.

How about next time make a title that is related to your problem. This is why no one can find anything when they search!

used, however it still had the same problem until i added some battery holddowns. I noticed the bat wires were coming loose because of a loose battery. Ever since I replaced the hold down the problem stopped for like 3 months. But now I dont know what is wrong

Definately bench test the starter, and see if all of your grounds are making good contact just to cancel those out..
My guess would be something to do with the signal wire going to the starter either making a bad connection or shorting somewhere in the harness. The bad part about that is you'd have to take the harness off or partially off and open it up to see whats going on. It could be giving off Voltage to the Tach wire..
