Default Heater does not blow hot air. HELP!!!!

Alright, the topic speaks for its self. Everything works except that hot air does not come out. If you turn the fan off and let it run and then turn the fan on, hot air shoots air for like 5 seconds and then goes back to cold air. Flushed the radiator so far.....does anybody have any clues? Thermostate? Heater core (which i hope its not)?.....anything??????

On your 83 you should check the heater core valve

When you flushed the coolant system. Did you remember to use a 50/50 blend including
water and antifreeze?

HAVE SOME ONE LOOK AT THE HOT WATER VALVE UNDER THE HOOD WHEN YOU TURN COLD TO HOT ON TEMP CONTROLS. MAYBE DUE TO THE NEW LOCATION OF MODE ***** CABLE BINDING OR NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ALSO, FAN WILL SEEM TO BLOW ANYTIME YOUR MOVING WHILE USING FRESH AIR (GREEN LIGHT) ALSO PULL TEMPERATURE CONTROL **** OFF AND SEE IF ITS BROKEN AT THE BASE?

I just solved a similar problem on my '93 Wagon. The cable that runs from the temp **** (blue to red) came off. I had to pull the whole dash off, lube it, put it back on. You can tell if it's working by looking at the intake heater hose (center firewall on engine side, halfway down). It has a cable attached to a gate valve. The temp **** pushes or pulls the cable in or out which opens and closes this valve. Have someone turn it for you and see if it opens and closes.

^^^your talking about the heater control valve im guessing.....changed that and it worked fine. I ripped the dash off and got the heater core. ordered a new one since i already wen through the trouble of ripping the dash off. Im gonna try and replace it tonight. If im driving the car without the blower turnwed on and then turn it on.....it blows out hot air for like 5 seconds then goes cold. So as of tonight I will have flushed the radiator, changed the heater core, changed the heater control valve, and replaced the 2 heater core hoses. And if none of those fix's it im gonna be pissed cuz then ill start with the thermostat.
