Swap help please....
Asking for a friend cause I dont know. Here is the setup. 1997 Accord EX. Swapped in a 2001 H22a4. Car will not start with the 2001 H22a ecu in there. Car will start with the 97 accord ecu in there. The Ecu is a known working ecu. Can someone send me the pinouts for this setup. Or direct me in the place to look for any wiring changes that need to be done.
Thanks, Jason
Thanks, Jason

Fo Sho. He didnt do any wiring except. That is where you guys come in. I dont know what pinouts need to be changed in order to be able to run the 01 H22 ecu. Thanks, Jason
which wiring harness did you use?? im guessing you used the 97 accord one, which means you are going to need a complete wiring diagram of both ECU's. you'll have to go over each pin and make sure that they are the same. if not, you'll have to move the pins on the 97 wiring harness to match the pins on the 01 ECU. only other way to do this without moving pins is to use the 01 wiring harness. it shouldnt take long to check all the wires. most of the wiring should be the same, save for a few.

I dont mind moving pins, I just dont know which to move. The harness that is in the car is the 97 harness. Should I try the 01 harness? Has anyone ever done this swap before? Any help is greatly appreciated. Should we get the 97 H22a ecu and try that?
I dont know. The car will turnover and over but will not start with the 01 ecu in.
Thanks alot, JAson
if the ECU is a 2001 H22a4 - don't you need to byass the imobilizer? otherwise the car will not start at all.
Thanks alot, JAson

Yeah, I recommended making him a harness, but he wants to try and use as much as the original as he can. Does his 01 ECu have the immobilizer in it? What year did the P13 ecu come from? His car is still running the resistor box for the injectors.
Thanks again-JAson

The 5th gen USDM Preludes have the immobilizer and OBD II. It's just not worth it. You have to convert to OBD I and the P13 ECU which is the 4th gen Lude VTEC ECU (or the JDM H22A ECU). Again, to do this conversion you need the distributor and injectors from a '93-'96 Lude VTEC.
Or can't you have the immobilizer immobilized? Maybe that guy "Katman" (frequents the Civic forum) can do something with it. Keep in mind that in CA, going the OBD1 route could be a dicey proposition in keeping it smog-legal.

Thanks. Keep the ideas comming.
I dont see why you can't change directly over to the 97 Prelude ECU. I am pretty sure it doesn't have the immobilizer.

You cannot use the 2001 ecu. That is ODB III and there is definately no known way of getting past the immobilizer system. To do so you would need the whole key assembly as well as a good friend at honda to reprogram everything. Not worth it.. You can either change your car to ODB I or ODB II. ODB one is less hassle and would require the least rewiring since all you have to do is get an adapter harness for you ECU and change the distributor.. ODB II is more complex due to the use of two O2 sensors and some other performance disabling things that are used for smog purposes..
Either way though you will have to spend a few dollars..

Are you sure about that, or are you just going from hearsay..??

Glad to see you still around Big James. Sorry to hear about the about your ride though. That is one of my worst fears to be driving then see some huge truck tire barreling down towards me..
And yeah when I was talking about ODB III, I was really referring to the immobilizer system. My apologies. I know its still a concept..
