i want standard steering, where do i get the parts
want to convert my 99 teg to strong arm steering. I want to get a guick ratio rack, but don't know which Honda or acura to get the parts from. I want only Honda parts. please help.
I don't think there's anything out there with a quicker ratio other than the stock Integra rack or something custom. Remove the powersteering for a nice steering feel though. But PM for a cheap way to do it w/out spending $60 on a kit.

He's in Nova Scotia, so no kit for him anyway, though of course one can go as "cheap" or "expensive" as one prefers.

Yea that's true, and your kits are really high quality nice parts and everything, but I don't see a point in getting a special tank and fancy lines if you can just use some extra hose and an extra clutch MC reservoir or whatever tank you want to use.
Although I agree that your kit is nice and simple and you're probably making some decent money with them so that's good for you .
Also I have a question (kinda thread jack)... how much fluid do you put in the rack when you remove power steering? When I removed mine, my rack made this weird humming drone sound when I turned at low speeds (like in a parking lot) and it got worse and worse, and was worse in cold weather. I replaced the rack since then because the first one was leaking from the back, and this new one does the same thing but quieter, and I don't want it to get any louder like the first one.

Well, the main issues I found with the Honda MC reservoirs were that the don't always seal all that well, and their mounting options are rather limited.

Thanks for the kind words, though there's actually not very much "profit" built into the kit pricing. It's more of a hobby of sorts.

I'm not sure why you're experiencing any noises with your particular setup, but I haven't heard of issues like that before.

Only for the CRX and the same generation of Civic I think, but not Integras.

It's weird because both my racks do it. Do you live somewhere where it doesn't get very cold? Because I think it only really does it in colder temperatures.

Northern New Jersey, which can get rather cold at times. Certainly not North Dakota or Canada cold, but cold enough.

I work on cars every day. When I do something on my car I do it once and right (in my mind). Conversions using the former power rack don't interest me (no insult to anyone selling these kits, they just aren't for me). I would like to use a Std rack originaly used on a Honda product. I like using only Honda parts because I feel they are by far the best OE Manufacturer out there. I don't understand why some would say North American are better and easier to work on. I think much differently. N. American cars make me want to bring a gun to work (figuretively, of course). Nothing beats original Honda. If I can't find something that interchanges, I likely will leave it alone for now.
get a manual steering rack from an EG civic. In my eyes its the best way of removing power steering. So long as you also get the universal joint in the lower part of the steering column, its a direct bolt in. You will have to use a little extra rubber on the passenger side rack mount. I did this on my 96 GSR, and personaly i love it. Then you dont have to worry about if you have enough lube in the rack and what not. If you chose to go this way depending on your driving habits. If you only do mainly in town driving i would talk to someone who can get the car on an alighnment rack and change the caster a little more towards negative. This will give you easier steerability in town and in parking lots and stuff. But if you do alot of highway riving or real high speeds, leave it where it is. becuase the more positive the caster, the better directional stability. If you have any more questions on how to put the EG manual rack in you Teg. feel free to ask

Same thing here. I have a how-to floating around somewhere....

Thanks guys, that's the info I was looking for. Do you know if all racks for that body style share the same ratio? look at http://www.virtualengine2000.com.

All the non-assisted racks should have the same ratio, though the ratio is slower than that of the power rack.

This is the reason why I would rather have the power steering rack w/out p/s removed instead of a non-p/s rack.

agreed that the ratio is slower. But you have much more problems with power steering racks than with manual racks. Such as the teflon seals going on. Also i would be worried if it was being supplied with enough luberication.
