I just recently bought a used greddy type-s bov. After I got home I turned the softness/hardness screw one turn and it came out. It wont screw back in because the threads on the top of the BOV (purple top) are stripped.

Does anyone know if I can buy a new top for the type-s? Or would I be better re-threading it and gettin a bigger screw to go in the top?

 

go return that bov and get a new one

can't you just retap and use a slightly bigger screw?

I don't think i've ever seen anyone selling replacement purple tops =/

 

i think im just gonna try and tap it and get a bigger screw....if that doesnt work and greddy doesnt sell another purp. top. i might just buy ebay type-s and use the top off of that

 

just retap the hole and you be fine.

if you want a new cap . you would have to order a whole new bov since they dont just use the top half

 

Don't re-tap it, use a thread restorer. Craftsman has one, its $50, well worth it

 

what exactly does a thread restorer do? cause as of right now i can just slip the screw into the top and it will slide right back out.

 

if its $50. you might as well just buy a ebay type s bov and use the cover off that

 

You can retap it for 5 bucks. Go fine thread though because there is very little thread depth. Been there and done that. It works fine.

BTW, the root cause for the stripped thread is that some douche didn't loosen the lock nut before tightening the screw...
