Default ebay sandwich adapter for oil feed.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...40294

has anyone tried these for a cheap oil feed for there turbo? i'm doing a really low budget setup on my beater and i $85 for a oil line kit really isnt in the budget.. are civic oil filters 20mm or 18mm threads? they sell both

can these lower your oil pressure of have any negative affects?

Have not used that one, but it's pretty hard to mess up. as long as both end are flat and it comes with a gasket you should be fine.

Any extra lines you add to the OEM pluming will decrease oil pressure. How much depends on the size of the lines, length, etc... Normally unless your adding big 8-10an lines for a oil cooler you will be fine.

I run the Golden Eagle ones only since they truely filter oil, I used a certain manufcaturers oil sandwich adapter and foun out it totall bypassed the filter! So be careful.

if you look at the design thats not really possible. oil comes through the center right? and drains out the ring around it? thats how i figured it worked. so its just extending everything a little and adding some ports.

I thought so too BUT the inner portion of the adapter needs to be almost flush with where it mates to the block if not then it will just come right back through the holes of the fitting that goes in teh block, path of least resistance. I did not believe it until someone showed me and explained to me what was wrong with the sandwich adapter we both had. Again I would just opt for a GE one because we know they are made correctly.

I looked at that pic on Ebay and unfortunately they don't show the backside of the adapter where it mates to the block, that would be the deciding factor.

EDIT: This picture on GE's site is really small but look how the backside is ALMOST flush with the block mating surface

The pics you posted mean nothing since they are not of the backside at all on any of them except for the GE one. I will try to explain again, on the GE one the oil comes out of the fitting in the block goes through the filter and back through the holes on the sandwich adapter since it is close to flush, NOW with the ones I have had to return since they were made incorrectly, where the the holes are on the adapter was about 1- 1.5 inches AWAY from the block and what would happen is the oil would come out of the fitting in the block and since the BIG holes on that fitting were before the apater it would just go right back into the engine since the holes would be the path of least resistance, I hope I explained it well enough to you. It is very important to get filtered oil through your motor, if you want to save $40-$50 and risk that, that is your choice. I am done , good luck either way

EDIT: Also Vince who used to work for Golden Eagle explained this in an old old thread a few years back, Golden Eagle actually manufactured an oil filter adapter for AC Technic back in the day and explained how theirs actually did not filter oil BUT the GE one did since it was actually made differently.

Actually oil enters a filter thru the outer ring then comes thru the center and enters the engine.

These adapters are using unfiltered oil and sending it to the turbo or etc. The golden eagle adaptor truly uses filtered oil for their ports.

How would you get unfiltered oil back in your engine. Even if the ports were not filtered it would run through the turbo and back to the pan and just repeat the cycle.

it will all eventually be filtered. not like it is unfiltered the whole time. most people on here change their oil at 1k miles anyways so its not like you are killing your engine. what do you think tapping into the back of the block does...the same thing.
