Default Tach reads alot higher then motor (searched)

When i bought the car with the h23 in it. I noticed the tach always read high. swapped in h22 and its the same.

this is what my tach shows
at idle it shows usually around 2k sometimes 3k
vtec will engage at 6k
and i can go all the way to 8500 to hit redline

any one know why its off that much. ive come to the conclusion its ~1100 rmps off

and dont go saying honda tach are off so just deal with it b/c on my silver one i have a autometer tach and stock tach and its off only by like 300 rmps at times.

if i install a diff stock gauge cluster do you think the problem will still persist?
help is greatly appreciated.

Installing a different gauge cluster is definetly a good start.

Have the gauges been played around with? The needles on te clusters can be very sensitive and if they were messed around with they often screw up like this.
