Default Trying to figure out what to do with totaled '00 GS-R (new pictures)

The car is still running but the rear quarter panel, the front aprons and the frame rack(right term for the bars coming out of the frame supporting the engine bay?) are damaged just on the ends. I decided i wasnt ok with the insurance company only giving me 1700$ for the thing when the engine is still running and has a brand new timing belt and water pump on it.

Has any one that has pieced out a car or sold a totaled car have any advice, or does anyone want it?

It looks much worse than it is and the body shop dude said he could rebuild it for 7000(which would leave me with about 3500 after everything is said and done) but im just going to get an RSX-S.

Insurance company wants to give you 1700 for the whole car? If so that is ridiculous and tell them to shove it up their ***. But as for the car, is there A LOT of frame damage? To me, from the pics, it looks like you can just get the rear bumper and filler, and get a new front end, maybe even jdm, to make it look decent again. And i dont know if it's worth parting out over rebuilding it, cuz in your case if u were to part out the only thing worth parting out is the motor everything else of value was already destroyed. But over selling the car out like that and parting it the better option to make more money would be part it. But it's up to you and what you plan to do to it. But if i were you i'd totally rebuild it on my own not a body shop.

yeah, the interior is in pristine shape. I washed it before i left on the trip i was on when my friend decided to joyride in it and do that to it.

there is no frame damage at all, but i dont want a car that might squeek and later on have problems because of the accident. i wish i could just pull the engine, the interior, and sell the frame to someone for just a few hundred dollars or something

ill get more pics up on monday when(if i do) i tow it to my house.

Well hey, in that case all the better. NO frame damage shell is worth way more than one that does. Just pull apart the junk bumpers and sell it as a whole you'll get more that way. i'm saying at least 3000.

The airbags did not deploy

i wish i had the time and energy to fix this car up right now but i just dont, i talked my parents into giving me a loan to pick up an RSX-S and im just going to get a newer, nicer car.

also, ill make more money parting it out than if i repaired it

the biggest issue at this point is yeah, maybe i could make it look pretty dang good again, and its still running, but it might have little noises that it might make, the parts might not line up right, and who knows if something might end up not working right in the long run. i know there are people who know more about cars and bodies than me and that could really fix it up and make it a brand new car much better, cheaper, and easier than i can.

Like i said, the end of the frame rails are not straight, whether one says that is the frame or not i dont know, but yes they need to be adjusted. The car did not hit head on as well, the car hit mid spin causing damage along the whole front and part of the passenger side of the car. I honestly dont believe the car hit hard enough for the frame to have been budged and instead the frame rails served their purpose and protected the frame

If the accident wasn't your fault, you need to go after the at fault driver's insurance company or let your insurance company go after them. If you had full coverage, then get some estimates, a lawyer, and sue your insurance company. If you were at fault, and had minimum coverage insurance, forget what I said.

I have minimum coverage, but a lady hit me, and my insurance company went after them and I got $800 for a tiny dent. Good luck man.

Wow, with that much money I'd keep the car and fix it. You could definitely get some good perfomance/suspension parts from that check.
