Which sub to buy...L7 or W7?
Try to put together a system. I always loved how JL's sound but someone mentioned the Kicker L-7's.. Anyone know much info about them.. I plan on getting 10" subs. Other suggestions are welcomed for the subs. Just want something clean and tight.. gonna go in a sealed box. Thanks
L7's are very good, but play better in ported enclosures, IMO. W7 are new and are supposed to be the shiznit
. But price wise, it's night and day. You'll be able to get 2 new 10L7's for the price of 1 10W7... If your budget can stretch, I'd do 10W7's.

Why not save yourself some cash, get a better woofer (IMO) and sound just as good and as loud in the process without the messed up DVC impedance...get an IDMAX. Outstanding woofer. 1.5 cubes sealed and handles 1kW and is available in both 2 and 4 ohm dvc configs.
As far as alternators are concerned...you are looking at 4-500 to buy a new one. Powermax and ohio generators are the two best on the market. You could find a local alternator shop, and if your case is big enough, you can get it rewound to 120+A for around $200.
Sorry, but for the $, the W7 is over-rated.

we sell JL so im partial to them ive heard a lot of other subs and i know alot about the w7 as far as tech. goes there is no other sub with this kind of rd and design time 7 yeas in the making new softeware to test and design they are not just a spl sub they also sound crisp and clean yea there not cheap and you pay for what you get as they say they take a lot of power and they produce (in my mind the cleanest bass ive ever heard)so i would say W7
theres a guy locally who has a 10" W7 and its VERY VERY LOUD... sure there are other subs that can be made louder, but nothing ive heard is this loud AND sounds this good...
this was in a civic hatchback btw.

For a tad over $300 each, the IDMAX is an excellent choice!
I would personaly never buy anything made by kicker. That's just me. Had 2 older solo barics. Not bad sounding but I think personaly a square sub is kind of gay. I laughed when I first saw them. That's when I got out of car audio. Back in it now though. Just don't know what to buy.
Thanks for all the input.. I'm starting to look into the W7's more and think I might get them. Thanks for the input... I wasn't too sure about Kicker products.

Now Bazooka (SAS's) triangular subs...that's dumb

This sub is still kicking as hard as it did a year and a half ago. Quality-wise, I think Kicker's are the best. Who else stitches the surrounds to the cone??? No one. They look extremely tough and can take a lot of power. The only reason I went away from Solo-Barics is because everyone I know went with them after hearing my set up and I wanted some trunk space back again.... I hate it when everyone else copies you....
The L7 is square. This design was choosen because it looks cool. With a square cone and a circular voicecoil, you have to admit that it does unnecessary stress on the cone of the speaker. Sure you have more surface area, but xmax is definitely limited because of the funny shaped corners of the suround.
Square subs, trianglar subs, hexagonal subs, it's all for car audio bling bling.

I say an IDMAX too. i wanted to get one but i decided on 2 JL w3's. I am not a JL bandwagoner but they do slam. but if u got a little cash i say 1 12" IDMax and a JBL 1200.1. that should be under $600. a lot chepaer then both your other choices.
if you can afford it i say the W7, but for a lot less..listen to the IDMAX.
(sup robert. its will. im loving the IDQ.
