stock muffler
ok i have a complete t1r exhaust that is 2.5 all the way back. i read in the archives that you can put the stock 2.25 muffler back on the upgraded 2.5 under piping. what size gasket should be used?? when i go to advance thay tell me theres no gasket there. any suggestions?? i have the like $800 complete T1r exhaust and just want to bolt back on the stock muffler. thanx
I tried the same thing, wont work. you will have to mod the stock R axle back flange. Stock is donut gasket, this is all of course if you have the 2nd gen T1R midpipe.
just a donut gasket will work.. just have to find one to fit it right.. but modding the axlback isnt too bad of an idea.. but if your car is pretty much then why not just put the stock catback back on..
well i bout it with the t1r complete and he didnt give me anything between the header and axle back so that is why, but are you saying that maybe a 2.75 donut gasket will fix this problem?or a 2.5?
its hard to say if you can realy find the right gasket or not.. you realy need to find like a 2.5 one to fit in the t1r, but one side 2.25 to match the itr axleback..
im sure you can find something to make it work.. but it wont be a stock gasket or anything.. going to have to go to your auto parts store and just try and find a random gasket..

It's going to sound like ***... Just saying.
A buddy of mine has 2.5" piping back to a stock ITR muffler, and it sounds like a weed wacker. Seriously, I was driving behind him, and I kept looking around trying to figure out what that weird noise was. Then I realized it was his car, ha.
I like the whole stealthy, clean, stock look too... But man, I'd honestly put an aftermarket muffler on the end of that baller B-Pipe.

i would have to disagree.. i put a stock axleback on apexi midpipe, no cat... and it sounded great.. realy quiet.. but getting on it reminded me of a stock g35 or 350z... real nice growl to it.. your friend must have had a leak...
He has pretty much the same setup as you dcash13... Sounds good in the car, sounds as you described. But from the outside, sounds like complete ***.
No trying to stir ****, or disagree just for the sake of disagreeing... Just saying.

well i can only comment on the way mine sounded.. i am not talking about the sound of the exhaust from the inside of the car, i couldnt hardly hear it inside.. honestly i could hear the aem intake sucking air more than i heard the exhaust.. but letting my budy rev it up and me stand behind it and then letting him take off around the block, i would have to say it was probly the best sounding muffler ive personaly had.. and just as a short list to show what ive had..

i am seriously considering going with the stock muffler again, i liked the tone from it that much.. im just afraid of loosing alot of power since mine isnt exactly stock..
maybe once i get a few new items ill try a before and after dyno and see what kind of whp i will loose and if its not much i will sacrifice a little power for noise.. but if its like way over 10whp i dont think i would switch it..
back on topic.. i am willing to either trade you my t1r axleback for your stock axleback if you add cash difference obviously.. or i also have a stock midpipe if you were intrested in trading the stock one for the t1r midpipe.. either way let me know..
