does it just serve as an overflow tank or should i fill it up with coolant?

 

you need to fill it to the line on the reservoir.


there are two lines. COLD coolant, and WARM coolant.

fill it accordingly. the liquid expands as it heats up..... it needs somewhere to go. so it flows into the bottle, but when the engine cools down, it sucks some of that coolant back into the engine.


you need to keep it filled to the proper level to keep this working.
