Here's the quick story: I dissassembled both my B16A block and my B18C5 block within the last week and found that both Blocks have the steel sleeves higher than the rest of the deck. Is this normal? The amount is just enough so that when you run a straight edge accross the deck it catches the steel sleeve. Maybe a couple thousandths.... Please let me know I need to reassemble these blocks soon and may take them to a machine shop to have them leveled. I spoke to few of my sponsors and have had mixed replies. Thanks for this odd tech question help.

 

Golden eagle intentionally does this on their sleeved blocks for better headgasket seal I think. Call them, I'm sure they will be able to tell you.
