That's a bad idea. Just get a test pipe or a high-flow cat.

Magnaflow/Carsound high flow cats are only $60 for the universal unit in various inlet/outlet sizes.

That's what I thought about when thinkin about getting a high-flow cat. I'll first end up gutting it. If it's way to loud like a ricer exhaust, I will probably end up purchasing a high-flow cat. I can't stand that loud obnoxious sound.

no its not. the air doesn't flow smoothly through a gutted cat because it widens up and then narrows down. exhaust tumbles in all different directions in a gutted cat, while it flows smoothly through a test pipe. i'd recommend getting a cheap test pipe instead of a gutted cat.

Thanks for all your opinions. I'm gonna be heading back home soon....1 1/2 hour drive. I'm gonna gutt it and see if i like it. If not ill end up buying a test pipe. I got a flowmasters muffler. Install that while im at it.

and when you gut your cat out it wont make the ricer raspy sound unless you remove your resonator off the b-pipe.

hooray for dumping more pollution into the air and making your car smell like a huge fart to anyone that's behind it.

Get a damn high-flow cat and be considerate of others. It's not just you driving on the road.

IF you gut it, there's no point in getting a test pipe, it won't sound any different.

Do you have a link for where to get these,
and are they Actually cats, or just resonator pipes?

It's true that gutting your cat or getting a straightpipe (or sometimes even a highflow cat) will turn the check engine light on, but an o2 sim will fix that. But there's no point in gutting the cat anyway because the cat's not a straight pipe inside and won't be good for flow, it'll only make your car louder and smell bad for no reason. Get a straighpipe off ebay or make your own with a pipe, a couple of flanges, and an o2 bung.

this was with an rs*r gtII exhaust. doesn't come with a resonator. might be why mine got a little louder.
