97 accord 4dr EX Vtec.

just got a new car last week so im really pumped about it and I was wondering if anyone knew any fixes, cleaning, tweaks, or maintanence necesseties i could do myself. anything would be appreciated.

Better idea - buy a haynes/helms manual first.

 

Valve lash adjustment.

 

97? Hoses and all rubber tubes are pretty worn. Get a manual, and strip off all the main cooling hoses,every hose that carries water, and flush the system out good. Replace the t-stat.

Replace all the rubber smog-lines. Replace the belts. If it's rubber, and 8 years old, it's getting old and soft. This stuff will keep you busy, and will go a long way towards saving the engine from a possible overheat.

Check the tranney fluid condition, dump if needed. If dirty, completly bleed the brake system out and replace the fluid. Now you're busy. Wrenchy
