guys that actually HAVE the H22 swap....questions for ya.
don't let my username fool ya
....this would be for an EG.
BTW: searching didn't lead me to any of the answers i'm looking for.
1.) why couldn't i keep the a/c? no place to mount the compressor, or lack of frontal room for it? has anyone made it fit?
[don't reply and say 'just leave it off'...i'm looking for a legit answer here]
2.) What is the better mount kit? HCP or HASport? I heard the HCP breaks axles like a ****. true?
3.) What did you do for axles? driveshaftshop.com? how much?
4.) where did you get your motor and how much did everything run total installed?
5.) what YEAR h22 do you have? it seems like the h22 goes from 90+...which is the better year for a 92-95 Civic? there's like 1-2 different 'h22a'...and then like 'h22a1'...and it just goes on. what's the diff?
6.) thanks for your time

My question has to do with daily drivability and handeling. I am not any kind of performance driver at all, however I do like to take the occasional fast turn, would i really run into that many problems with this setup? Also is the place racing mount kit decent? I believe they are the best and possibly only mount kit for a ek civic
post in the hybrid forum
BigZ88- the understeer problem is seriously not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. granted, it's not gonna win any auto-x races, but if you're not a heavy auto-x driver, don't worry about anything. heavier springs/shocks and you're good to go

now if someone can answer my questions!!!! i know there's people here that can answer it
There is no room for the a/c. The compressor mounts too low and the belt will rub agaist the side wall of the engine bay. The crank pully clears for the altrenator but not the a/c.
I used the hasport mounts because the mount for the trans is a lot beefier and shorter than the place one. Besides, Place's customer service sucks. HASport has paid to overnight stuff to me when they are in error. How cool is that?
I use the DriveShaft Shop stage II axels but there is a problem because they are soo built that the midshaft runs VERY close the the strut fork up front. I mean like no daylight gets through. ($500 and well worth it. How would you like to finish this PAIN IN THE *** swap and line up w/ some punk V8 only to break a cheap integra axel.)
JDMhondaparts.com is the BEST place to get engines. Sheng is the man. Check this forum for all the good reviews of his business. They are all good!
$3k for engine + axels + exhaust +,+,+,+,+,+ = around $5k but mine is done right. I spared no expense. All essential parts are new and upgraded... fuel pump, radiator, etc. You can save buck by reusing but it may be dangerous for the engine to over heat or run lean. My 94 DX had 240cc injectors and the H22 uses 340's. Do you really think a stock DX pump can push that much fuel reliably?
I have a 95 JDM H22a. The 96 and up have an open deck design and are weaker. I also special ordered my H22 with a LSD for $300 more....
any more Q's?

about the a/c...i noticed that in a picture i saw last night. i was wondering, do you think i could mount the compressor higher up on the block with a custom bracket and then use a different belt? or put the a/c compressor where the power steering pump would go? (i saw a 5g last night that had the powersteering pump working and all)
yeah i was thinking i would go with HASport...their kit looks very nice. how hard is the wiring with the swap though?
how bad are the driveshaftshop axles? is it something that's going to get banged up really bad? do the axles actually TOUCH the strut fork, or is it just very close? is there anything that you can do about it...like maybe get some stage1 axles or something?
what did you do to upgrade your fuel pump? did you use a larger OEM honda from a different car, or did you get an aftermarket one?
do you drive your car daily? and lastly, do you have any pictures of it? Thanks for reading all this stuff
did you lose PS and AC? or just AC and you still have PS
sept / 2001 issue of Sport Compact Car..has a nice article on this swap..it was perform d by Holeshot in S. calif..it address s a few issues ur talking about

My DX has manual steering. (Not an issue w/ me). I don't know if it will fit. The top of the valve cover is less than .5 inches from the hood when closed so its a gamble....
