Default 93,16deg,12:1

Given a 12.0:1 compression ratio and 93 octane, will 16deg. timing be alright to where the motor doesn't knock?

Thanks

Your base timing has little to do with how your engine will react under load, it is simply just that, a base. You can run 10 degrees at the distributor and still get detonation if your ignition tables are tuned improperly.

For instance, I am running 28.5deg timing at 9400 rpms at WOT, but only 10 degrees at 2000 rpms at WOT.

FWIW I am running 15 degrees at the distributor with my 12:1 2.0L.

Kind of related--but does anyone know what the actual total timing is on a stock jdm b18 type r motor? Or a usdm? How about full throttle timing at say 3000 rpm?
