checked out the cable looking at the bottom part of the bumper. i think the ball part came off the actual latch thing. so basically the cable that runs through the latch is gone

ehh problems, i dont recommend buying a car from a auction you never know what your going to get. I have a friend who bought a 99' GSR from an auction and that thing was running rich, worn out cf hood, quarter panel damage, hatch wont open, yea tons of problems

^^^^^^ thats why you inspect it and look at it before you by it, quarter pannel damage and a faded carbon fiber hood is very noticable.

From easiest to hardest:

Stick you hand/hands up through the front bumper to the latch (use your finger or screwdriver) and manually slide the lever on the latch that the cable is/was attached to.

OR

You could remove the front grill, 2 screws/bolts that screw down into the headlights and 3 clips that attach to the front bumper (pull straight out after you remove the 2 screws), unbolt the latch.

OR

Unbolt the latch reaching from underneath the front bumper (maybe easier to jack up the front end)

yea i would just slide the lever with a screwdriver or ur finger if its skinny enough.

umm i think the g2 cable is long enough. The problem with the g3 one is its too short to go from the inside release to the latch.
