All the new (06+) Honda's should come with the new MTF formulation from the factory... so you've already "experienced" it.

cant imagine fluid having that much of an impact overall. At least not on a new tranny.

keep in mind that you just said that
but honda spent money on an updated mixture... if there wasn't a difference i dont think they would have put forth such an effort to change it after numerous trans F'ups of the early 2000's and late 90's

Is this "new" trans fluid a replacement for the "old" stuff, or will they be sold together? Anyone know how it differs? I remember about 10 years ago when Honda didn't even have any manual trans fluid and the owners manuals just recommended motor oil either 10w-30 or 10w-40!!

It should be a replacement soon... but as of now I'm still receiving the "old" stuff from my distributor. I imagine that eventually the old fluid will be phased out and the new, updated mixture will be the only fluid you can purchase at a dealership.

You can still use 10w-30/other motor/gear oil in place of the MTF, but the MTF has extra additives to preserve its viscosity and protect gears/syncros better.
