Thinking Of Taking Your Car To Cpl Racing.......
DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They did my engine conversion about 8 months ago, luckly the cars just been sat in my garage since then........ anyways long story short, as some of you know the cars being tuned on the 4th Novmber so im doing a complete check on the whole car to make sure everything goes sweet.
So for some reason i think....... hmmm better check the gearbox oil, so i undo the (Fill/check) level, and wow!!! BONE DRY!!!
The cowboys did the whole engine conversion and didnt even put any oil in the gearbox what so ever!! Amazes me how someone, or company can do a whole conversion and not put any oil in the box!!!!!
Would of been interesting on the dyno in 2 weeks trying to run 500ish hp through a tranny with no oil
Well my story is like this had a b18c5 itr conversion carried out by russ at hond-r all went fine no problems before i had the conversion done i'd bought a p30 uk spec ecu to remove the speed limiter had it in the car scince july 06 never thrown a check light even after the conversion. Was advised by maz to take the car to cpl so i contacted guy payed my £100 (non refundable) deposit and set a date.
Had to be at cpl for 8.30 in the morning so i had to leave at 5am to miss all the traffic on the m25 arrived there fine around 8.15am and guy started on the car straight away i wasnt asked if i wanted to watch the dyno or the tuning side of somthing to do with health and safty or i might try and copy his tuning on other cars ?? all was finished by 12.30pm and the car had made 155.6whp around 184bhp at the fly seemed low but he said that was about right?? .
Started my journey home all seemed fine and car performed great v-tec had been advanced to ingauge at 4000rpm stoped for petrol and later stoped for lunch got to junction 9 of the m25 and the check light came on had no throttle responce nothing pulled into the hard shoulder pushed the clutch in and and the engine dyed tryed to start the engine and nothing. I rang cpl and lynn said that guy was tuning an engine and she would take a mobile phone straight up to him 25mins past........ so i phoned back she said hasnt he phoned yet no..... 2mins later guy phoned i explained what had happerned and after him telling me things that i had already tried he said if you can get it trailered back to him at a reasnable time that night he couldnt look at it or i could ring the AA get them to trailer it back to him and sleep in the car over night and he would look at it in the morning.
Bollocks to that so i phoned maz/russ at hond-r who explained to me how to put the car into check mode the car was showing a solid cell ecu failure !!! now thank the lord hond-r still had my p30 import ecu which thanks to russ ( a mahousive thanks) russ drove it out to me plugged it in and the car fired up first time Me and the mrs spent 5hours on the side of the m25
Got on the phone the next day to guy and he said that it wasnt his fault but the ecu was faulty i tryed to explain that id never had any problems with the ecu before and he said hes never had i hondata that hes fitted ever had a problem before (me thinks not).He said that he had a replacement ecu and it would cost me £120 and asked if i could send the damaged ecu so he could have a look at it which i did and we arranged for me to go back up the following friday. I had to bunk off work as i didnt have any holiday off i arrived again at 8.30am and he started on it straight away he removed the hondata from the damaged ecu and put the chip in the new ecu and guess what that through a soild cell to so two knacked ecus a wasted trip and a b18 still not tuned. he turned to me and said well at least its not a wasted journey???? and still wouldnt have it that the hondata was faulty. He then said that i would have to by another p30 which maz didnt have so i had to by p28 and post it to them but they werent open half term week but if i sent it down friday someone would be there and he would sort asap and send it back so id have monday and guess what a rang today and he hasnt touched it yet and would send it out in a couple of days.
In all of this the tuning cost me £555 i had to pay russ £20 for the petrol to deliver the ecu to me £50 petrol down there the second time and £100 for the new ecu not to mention all the hassel and time its cost me ive had no sorrys no ill refund some for no nothing i am one fucked off bunny!!!! but banzi want to do a feature so ill be sure to mention that cpl suck massive donkey's ****!!!!
But in all this ive learnt if i have a problem to ring people how know what they are talking about and thats the guys at hond-r who with out them would have had to fork out a massive bill to be towed home thanks Russ and maz proper gents!!!
