did all DC integra motors have VIN #'s on them?
Did all DC integra motors have VIN #'s on them? if not, what years came with them and what didn't? just want to know so I can check to see if it's legit motor and not stolen and what not.
i've wondered about this as well. there is a serial number under the engine code on the block, but I am skeptical that these numbers are traceable, regardless of what people speculate.

i heard those number are traceable.... usually theres a vin tag next to it for the 96 up integras but those numbers are the same as the vin plate on your dash. So this leads me to believe the number under b18c1 to be the actual number cops run when you get pulled over.

what do they use? i don't you can use carfax due to the numbers being too short.

dam, this question comes up once a week. 96+ have the vin on the engine and tranny, it'll match the vin on the dash and firewall if everything's original. supposedly the block can be traced by the block #. if this is true, which i'm not sure, i would guess it'd be a state to state kind of thing, not some national database. other than that, i don't know of any way to trace engines. carfax won't show whether an engine was stolen or not, even if you have the vin. you'd have to run the vin through the police.

it would be great to hear from someone who's actually ran an obd1 block by their state patrol. there's always speculation about how these blocks can be traced by serial number, but i've never seen an instance where this has occurred, and although i am not sure either, i am highly skeptical that these serials are in a database. it would just be another complete set of data to collect from a 11-12 year old car, and i dont think stealing b-series blocks was as big of aproblem then as it is now, which is probably why they started sticking vin tags on their blocks. anyways, i'll be running a 94 gsr block by my pd soon, so i'll let you know by the end of the month how it turns out.

with no vin its impossible to know the mileage. if its a 96+ you can find out the mileage of the motor when it was pulled, if it was out of a wrecked car. that's as close as you can get.
