B16 swap... axles...and speedo cable???
Hey guys i'm currently swapping a B16A1 mated to aY1 cable style trans W/ LSD into a 91 CRX. i used Hasport mounts to do the swap if this helps with anything. the car is also lowered with Tein coil overs and i'm installing adjustable balljoints for camber and caster adj.
the problem i'm having is i'm using 90-91 teg axles and they bind up when i slide the balljoints toward a negative camber setting. I basically need to have them adjusted all the way positive to get the upper balljoint to bolt into the spindle. it's like the axles are too long i've read in the FAQ's that 86-89 teg axles are ideal and 90-91 axles work but aren't ideal. is this the fix for my problem? i don't want to spend anymore money than i need to to find out my self. BTW i've only done this with the driver side so far. i'm getting ready to find out if the passenger side will be the same way!!! also what's the advantage of the hasport axles for this swap? just stronger??
also i've got the throttle and clutch cable's figured out but what do i need to do with the speedo cable? the trans i got came with and electronic speed sensor so i got rid of it and swapped the cable style piece over from the old trans. the problem i'm having here is the cable is too short to clip in to the trans. do i also need a speedo cable from a 90-91 teg to fix this?
Thanks,
Steve

yeah i was just going back over that stuff. i removed the outboard ones but wasn't sure if there were any on the inboard. i'm gonna go pull that apart and see now. thanks!
also the axle binding is only a problem on the driver side not the passenger so you may be right.

alright there is one seal on the inboard side that may solve the problem but it seals the bearing in the intermediate shaft. i'd prefer not to remove it if possible. is there a way around this?
i just reread superstreetonlines cover of a b16a swap in a ef and they say "You’ll need to use ’91 Integra axles but in order to make them fit, you’ll have to remove the ring on the inner side of the hub bearing. "
ok already have that done.
maybe i should clarify the axles rotate fine. i pulled both the dust sheild off the hub and that little rubber/plastic ring that comes on the axle. the binding is in the CV's them selves like they bottom them selves out when you push the top of the spindle in toward the car. the upper ball joint barely slides into the the top of the spindle when it binds up. and that's with the camber corection as far positive as it goes...
does the article mention any other alterations to the axles? or could you post the link?
thanks for your help so far man

use a Teg interm shaft. I think the SiR ones are different than tegs ones. dont quote me on that. just as a friend to borrow one to see if it works. if it does
then go home with your friends one. hahaha jk.

you might need a different intermediate shaft there was a nifty thread that had pics off all the different ones and which ones will work with which axles, should have bookmarked it
Thanks a ton guys this is what i was hoping to hear. i took everything back apart to make sure the axle was seating fully in the hub too to rule it out and that intermediate shaft was the only other thing i could come up with. i'm curently using the SiR one. i'm gonna be robbing the one off my bosses car tomorow!!!
should solve that problem now i just need to know about that speedo cable. i'm pretty sure the 90-93 teg one should work but this car has a dead line that is nearing fast and i need to know for sure what to do.
then all i need to do is wire it up but that shouldn't be too bad.
one other quick noob question while we're here, what does PR3 stand for??? i keep seeing it in the researching i've done and can't figure it out. i've got a background with AE86's and oldschool toys but i'm new to hondas and have to re learn ****!
thanks again for the help!

if you use 90~93 integra speed sensor your stock CRX speedo cable will reach...just little tight.
PR3 = Pure Racing 3....j/k...I don't really know what it is stand for but I know it is for OBD0 and some OBD1 B16A ecu.
