I want to strip down and repaint my rims. I am wondering how much clear coat is a lot, a half can? whole can?

The last time I painted my rims, I sprayed a few layers of Duplicolor Graphite and it was real light, I had to use maybe half a bottle to get a nice deep tone. Than I did about a half can of Duplicolor Clear. Wasnt very shiny, but close enough.

I have done plentiful research. Was wondering if I should sand between spraying layers of paint.

Grits? for stripping paint and if so, grits for light sanding in between coats?
