Default Test Pipe or High Flow Cat?

I have a built B18C that needs a new catalytic converter... I'm very tempted to just throw a test pipe on there but I have a Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust which is VERY loud...

I know a test pipe will allow the engine to breathe better, but I'm thinking I want the converter to deaden the sound a bit... Any idea how much the difference in flow/hp will be with a test pipe over a high flow cat?? It's OBD1, so I'm not too worried about CEL's & O2 sensors (or emissions for that matter).

Just tossing some ideas out...

For those who will say high flow cat, could you recommend any? I just checked on eBay, and like anything else, there's the cheap crap for $4 up to over $100... Thoughts?? Other links?

high flow cat, save the environtment and not too much drop off of power...bust most importantly, saves the environment

when i had my test pipe, it was louder and raspier and stinks like crap...and is not healty for anyone to breathe...not worth it in my opinion

I like the pros of the cat alot more than the test pipe...

So riddle me this... Anyone know off the top of their head what the dimensions of the stock cat are on a '98 Civic EX 2dr??

Street: Cat
Race: Test Pipe

What header are you running?

With your Tanabe check to see if you have a bottleneck at the 3 bolt flange at the start of the B pipe.
