Mandrel bend shops in Chicago?
Mandrel bending doesn't lend itself to one off parts unless you have allot of disposable $$$ Buy bends and straight tube and take them to someone who knows what to do with them

Drew I heard you throw up the bat signal
. Its the best bet though, I have seen so many horrible exhaust jobs, do it right the first time and save in the long run,

I would really like to know if anyone in the Chicago area has a mandrel bender.
I am sure Garage Kwai or One6 could hook you up with some custom work.

Mandrel benders are a ton of money, and there really big so I would say no.
A good bender is about 20,000 and up.
We use full mandrel bends, cut and tig welded, all the way up to 4.5 inches, including aluminum for lightweight exhaust systems.

I know they are $$ (I've priced them out), but there has to be somebody. There are a lot of people and a lot of business's. I have searched and come up with nothing.
i remember calling a shop a while ago and they said they can mandrel bend up to 2.5" just forgot where is was at.

I heard that i shouldn't use aluminum for my exhaust. i wanted aluminum at the beginning because it's lighter and stronger then stainless. Would i have any heating issues warpping the pipings?

I don't want to start a battle here, as this has been debated to death. But you really shouldn't use aluminum because of it's properties. Although if you made one of aluminum it would work without issues, the performance (from a textbook point of view) wouldn't be as good as running stainless. Also I wouldn't say aluminum is stronger than stainless (it's much softer), lighter yes but not stronger.

Nope, no website. And as far as aluminum goes, I would be a little weary on a daily driven car that had bad engine mounts, but I know a few people run aluminum and never have issues.

To sum it up as far as I know there are no shops in Chicago that specifically operate mandrel benders. But yea.... you got more options than you can handle as far as people who can whip you up an exhaust regardless of what materials you choose.
With that said I've seen redzcstandardhatch's bro's work and 90blacks and either way you go you should be happy.

They have a mandrel bender and can do up to 3" I believe. The guy sucks at welding but he can bend you up piping. He'll also rape you as far as costs go too (I can get mandrel bends cheaper from Burn's Stainless
).
Lol, found this on their website.

a complete exhaust bent up... in for the *** rapage quote
I'm gonna be whipping myself up a 3" sometime in the future... with my own welder (fluxcore) and probably end up with total expenses under 100. I'll reuse all my hangers and such from my old exhaust and use all glasspacks... won't win beauty contests but thats how I likes it yO.

On top of a larger then typical shop rate, there will be R&D time involved in designing and bending and possibly scraping more then a few pipes to get it right if it has to be 100% bent not welded - far more R&D then is involved in just fabbing one up with bends. You will think you are getting raped, but more then likely it's barely worth the shops time to do it for any less.
Not 6 months ago, we developed a twin 3" exhaust for a tuner. The exhaust took us 18 hours to develop, program, test bend, tweak, re-test bend, tweak, etc. If we had fabbed the exhaust, it probably would have been 1/2 the time. The end product is great, but if he hadnt been a tuner selling the production version of the exhaust, it would have been a complete waste of time and money IMHO.
