Here is what happened" my sister was borrowing my 99 cvic sicne her was totaled. there was ice on the windshield and she turned the wipers on to get snow off of it but the wipers were stuck. there was a loud popping sound but thewipers wouldnt move. now they make a whirring sound and dont move at all. just making sure i am asking if both motors are shot, or if its somethin that just slipped out inside the motor.

 

It sounds like something in the motor just slipped. Obviously the motor is still turning thus the whirring sound. Try pulling off the motor and examining it further from there.

 

There's only one motor, and it sounds as if some part of the linkage broke, not the motor.

 

alright ill check out the linkage and see how it is. i havnt looked at this b4 but i hav a helms manual so ill look at that too. i was thinking each wiper had a motor.
