Default Another auto-x class question

So would taking out my air conditioning bump me out of stock class, even though it doesn't even work?

If your car was available without AC then yes, actually you can remove it. However, you'd also have to remove everything else that was on that model car.

RE: STS protest
Jason Frank is a friend of mine.
If the underbody coating is to be considered a factory part, I want to see the factory part number, so that when I restore my EF HB I can replace it.

Jason wasn't willing to drag out the appeals process.

I agree.....
If it was removed...are you supposed to go back to the dealer and have it put back on. Tell them to put a very very light coating.
Talk about splitting hairs.

Update backdate rule on AC units such as the Integra and Type-R being on the same line. Legally the AC can be removed because the earlier R's didn't have AC.

DVP, update/backdate is not allowed in stock or STS classes. The fact that some Integras did not have AC stock, early type R, means nothing. The "lowest" class it effects is Street Prepared which allows AC removal anyway.

As far as the Civic mentioned by the OP, in 91 the AC may have been an option and possibly even stand-alone in which case it could be removed. The fun part is that if you can remove it, the car has to be put back in the condition it would have been in without it. That gets really fun to do on cars that are now getting kind of old.

If this is referring to the 91 hatchback in your signature, it is legal to remove the A/C as that was a dealer option and the car was available without it. But as someone says above, you have to remove all of it, so the car is set up as if it never had A/C, you can't just remove part of the system.

Well, I guess I'll put that on my "I learned something new today" list. I'll have to read into the rule book a bit more now...
