Poll: To purchase Skunk2 stage 2 cams (or) keep stock ITR cams?
Hi folks - did my research, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for so I thought I'd run a quick poll.
Question: Is it worth purchasing a set of Skunk2 Stage 2 cams for my ITR, over my stock ITR cams.
Facts:
* Cams are 2nd hand, but unused
* I would be buying them for $450 CAD (around 400USD I think)
* Engine is CURRENTLY PULLED APART
waiting for the Skunk2 valves I had to replace
* I will be racing at the track, but this is primarily a street daily driven car (yes, I pick up my damn groceries in it
)
* I am currently making 180.2 whp/125wtq with the following mods.
Current (relavent) mods to the b18c5:
* Spoon adj cam gears
* Skunk2 dual springs
* Titanium retainers
* VAFC2 & FPR
* Skunk2 high compression forged valves
* JDM high compression itr pistons
* Thinner (high compression) headgasket
* AEM CAI
Let me know what you think

yeah. get it.. why not?
you will make more power with aftermarket cams
but.. that's just me..
i'd decide it myself.. like it's your car.. do what u wanna do with it.
but if you get the cams.. you will probably need to get the valve trains as well. and some tunings and bigger injectors.
but it might not be as reliable as stock honda cams

If you think you will EVER get cams in the future, go ahead and get them while you have the engine apart. Then start saving for something better for tuning than the VAFC.

if youre trying to make hp, i wouldnt see the negatives behind getting after market cams. especially since your getting a good deal on them. An since you have the motor apart, hey why not
i dont see any reasons why keeping the stockers would be a win win situation, as long as the car is properly tune, you should achieve better results!

go ahead and get them.
be careful though and make sure you have them degreed/ clearanced for valve to piston..... as you likely will have much less room for error in tuning the cam gears...

Add $$ for tuning and it's about the same cost
