Default timing a d15b2?

my car (88 crx dpfi). has been giving me alot of problems lately. first i was driving and it just shut off out of know where. i got it home the next day and checked for codes it threw a 4 (crank angle sensor) and 16 (fuel injector). after talking to a few people i was convinced it was the dizzy. went and bought one from a junkyard but it was faulty and didnt work out. so i went out and bought a new one put it in and nothing. checked the codes and now it is just throwing a 8 (tdc positioning sensor?). would the timing simply being off cause this? and could someone tell me how to go about timing it?

i dont think timing has anything to do with your problem. but a fuel injector problem has nothign to do with the dizzy. so how did changing the dizzy fix your code 16? thats weird. use the faq page and find the trouble shooting for codes.. find out if your dizzy is working good.

yea it probably is the timing. Even though the ecu code says one thing it doesn't necessarily mean that is the problem, its not a direct translation, anyone with experience knows this. Code 4 or code 8 almost always is timing and code 16 is sometimes the main relay...its never as simple as looking up the code.

Just keep buying parts until it works...J/k

First thing i would do is take out one spark plug connect the plug wire to it and place it so it is grounded (not on the battery thou) have someone crank it over and watch for spark. Next while the spark plug is still out put the plug wire back in the hole and crank the motor over it should pop out. Next disconnect the fuel line at the throttle body (follow the line from the fuel filter if you don't know which one is the fuel line) and place it in a soup contanier you got from ordering chinese food last night. Turn the key on and the fuel pump should of primed some fuel in the contanier. if you get no fuel then diconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter the line going into the filter from the firewall (fuel tank) and do the same don't lose the copper gaskets thou cause you will have a fuel leak. You just checked for fuel spark and compression. Always start your diagnosis with the sample stuff. Obviously check the battery too!

You can't time it without a light. You can line up the crank and such for the mechanical timing but for the ignition timing you need a timing light.

k im just going by my experience with this code 8 it was my distributor, iv heard of many people on honda tech saying they got a faulty new distributor alot. but use the faq page for code 8 before you time. i really dont see how timing can do this.. unless timeing has caused a code 8 then dont listen to me. but check out the trouble shooting on the faq page for sure. it helped me out with my code 8

hey, this is soloIIjdmcrx. just coming bye to say thanks for all the input but i got it solved today. and all you that said it wasnt timing you were right. when i got the new dizzy i forgot to put the bolt that goes through the rotor into the shaft so the rotor wasnt spinning and hitting the points. but once i took it all apart and saw that, i threw that bolt back in and it fired right up. thanks for all the help from all of you. and i look forward to coming to you guys for help in the future.
