In the last few days as it has gotten cold I have noticed that my heater is not working as well as it should be. The car warms up and the temp gauge goes to normal operating temp. But the heat doesn't get very warm, only enough to defrost the windshield. I don't think it is the thermostat because the temp gauge moves and the heat has a little life in it. Any clues on what this could be? The heater worked great last winter.

Mine was a combo of low antifreeze and the thermostat.

 

after reading your thread I think my heat is only decent while driving, not while sitting still. I will check the antifreeze level tomorrow. Thanks man.

Out of curiosity, how much is a thermostat? Never had to buy one.

 

From memory it was less than $20 with the gasket (they sell the gaskets seperately, so make sure you get one if/when you purchase a thermostat).
