Supercharger
Hey i have a 01 vtec prelude and am probably going to s/c it. What are some good things to get if i go forced induction instead of n/a. Like i know i/h/e is good if you go n/a but is it also good if you go forced induction. I want to get about 350 hp after i am done with all my mods and s/c only gets me to 230 what else can i do to get my hp up. What size injectors should i get 440? Just what are some things to help boost hp if i boost and what brands are good.
you got LOTS of reading to do, first you don't know what how much HP your gonna get from Supercharging your lude because you haven't done it.
Base everything off the amount of Horsepower you want NOT the amount of boost you want to run, that doesn't even give you a good estiamte of your power levels the amount of air flown thru the engine does.
do you want 350whp or brake horsepower?
I/H/E are great for getting power to a Supercharged set up but the header and exhaust are going to be larger then in a N/A build
I'm going to assume your looking at the Jackson Racing Supercharging kit base on the number you have given. Honestly Supercharging a lude isn't the way to go for big power. The heat from the JRSC and the lack of an intercooler for the supercharged set up limit the amount of power to be made. I'm not even sure if anyone has hit 350whp with JUST the supercharger mostly people use nitrous as a cooling agent in form of a Direct port shot so they can raise the boost on the charger. Water injector and other cooling system will work as well.
I would though suggest reading the FAQ at the topic and get an idea what your really getting yourself into.
but whatever route your taking to get to 350whp your breaking open the engine to get there.
what are your plans for the car?

Start by researching and saving your money, you have a lot of work to do for 350HP, not simple but not hard at all if you know what you are doing. I also suggest turbo instead of SC.
I was going to go turbo but i heard it can be unreliable.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by DCxMagus »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">you got LOTS of reading to do, first you don't know what how much HP your gonna get from Supercharging your lude because you haven't done it.

My plans for the car are to get 350 whp. I am sorta new to this though. But yall suggest getting a turbocharger instead of a s/c? I actually might get a turbo because i am reading that it has better high end power and i want that more then power for every rpm. And yes i was talking about the jr supercharger. I am probably going to go for high end power so i guess i will read more but i am slanting more towards turbocharging now.

It sounds like DCxMagus knows what he is talking about. Who told you that a turbo was unreliable? I have had both s/c set ups and turbo, and let me tell you that you will be much happier with the turbo.

Would it not all depend on what he will be using the car for? I know for a supercharger setup you would produce more power at low rpm than a turbo would unless the turbo spools real quick like the disco potato for an example.
Autox and possibly a smaller track would benefit from a supercharger I think as you can always stay in boost and the amount of tq transfer is smoother. Turbo would benefit from drag racing and highway runs....even though no-one should be speeding on the highways

True but with a correctly sized turbo for street use there wouldn't be any lag at all.
For auto-X on a prelude Personally I would use something to the tune of a 62-1 trim turbo set up on around 8 psi. Spool with a set up like that would began around 2.7K if you had a decent tubular manifold. The thing with superchargers I personally don't like is the whole parastic loss factor and how the boost is completely instant, can cause problems in some turns.
If you were going just for a fun street car, that might go to an auto-X event once in a while, or you wanna have some fun in the canyons then I would say supercharge it. You might fall short of your ultimate goal but the overall feel of the car will make up for that . Superchargers are VERY easy to maintain you just have to check and change the belts, do it when you fill up quick and it becomes a route.
But whatever you do turbo, super, or NA get it tuned and get a stand-alone computer. AEM EMS, Hondata S200-300, speed pro something that lets you tune the car well, you can have a turbo prelude but if it isn't tuned its gonna feel like a dog.
Quick edit: The best advice I can give to the OP is save your money atm. Your deciding what to do with your car with very few sources atm. Take some time read up on all forms of FI, hell you haven't even mention nitrous you might love the giggle gas! Do some research get familiar with each form then slowly work it out to find out which way is the best route for you to get to your goals.
