towing capacity of the R
ok, before you start flaming on me, understand that I AM NOT DOING THIS. My friend has had his 99 itr since it was fresh off the showroom floor, i dont know why he doesnt just buy a shitty tow car, but hes crazy. He wants to know if his R could tow a sea-doo without any problems, im thinkin it would probly be okay on flat roads and stuff, but i personally wouldnt want to be launching it and pulling it out of the water with MY R, or going through mountain roads or anything like that. what do you guys think? i believe hes looking at a 3 seater doo. i hae no idea the wet or dry weight of these toys, but dry i dont think its much more than 600 lbs or so, with the trailer, but i could be totally off..
I've towed ~1150 + another 200 or so in addition to myself in the cabin. I wouldn't suggest it as a typical weekend load, but it can be done. LS/GSR are rated for 1000lbs. Tounge weight is more critical than total load.

he'll be fine towing a jetski man. I've had me (250lbs) and 3 other guys in a IHE GSR before, with our total weight being about 1100 lbs....one of the guys is 6'6" 450lbs...... and it was fine. it actually still accelerated fast as hell for a GSR haha.
Anyway, a 600lb seadoo + or - is fine.

plus trailer @ what probly over 150 lbs, which means 900, plus the water draining out of the doo, while pulling up the ramp simulating a pretty good hill, and the limit for the itr is 1000 lbs, way too close for my comfort, thanks alot guys, very helpful

A compact front wheel drive pulling a loaded trailer up wet incline kinda doesn't mix too well. Especially @ load capacity. I've actually had to pull a couple cars out of a lake, that where pulled back into the water from losing traction.

I can just see the picture now. The ITR goes to pull up the boat launch and starts to lose traction and then into the water she goes. Then there is always some redneck that will say " I can get that out no prob". He'll hook on to the front bumper and then snap!! No more nose. I wouldn't recomend it. It may do fine on the flats but a slippery boat launch spells disaster!!
Oh, puhleez.
Hell, I've pulled my aunt's frigging boat a couple feet up the ramp by myself, and that thing weighs 4,000 lbs. on the trailer. And I'm not even a musclehead (keep in mind the bouyancy cancels out a lot of the weight). It's not that big a deal, folks.
I think some of you are way too paranoid about your cars.
