where can i get an ecu pin?
i bought a obd2-obd1 conversion harness, and it was a little screwed up. i need to put in a new ecu pin so i can connect a wire to it on the other side. anybody know where to get one? i can't find one locally.
Try the dealer, an electronics parts store (not BestBuy) or send me the old one in Japan.
Or just bypass the entire adaptor (this one pin) from inside the ECM to your adaptor harness. Requires a hole and some soldering technique.

this is the connector that would normally be on an ecu, i can't just find pin this at a junkyard. i tried a couple different radioshacks and they didn't have it. i guess i'll try the dealer, though i don't know if they'd sell something like this seperately. i was hoping someone had a web site with stuff like this.

umm i definately pulled ecu pins from the junkyard...but its your time and money
...you find a connector...remove the wire with the pin..snip it so you have enough wire on the end of the pin..and use that for whatever youre trying to connect..its kinda simple

you're not understanding this. this isn't the connector that stays on the car. this plug would normally be found attached to the ecu, as a non-removable part of the ecu. you can't just 'snip a pin off.' its really not that simple. i actually had a abs computer with the same type of pins in it. i took it apart and tried to get one out, but they're all held in place by a big chunk of plastic that makes it impossible to get one out. i need find a place to just buy the pins separately.

do you know what an obd2-obd1 conversion harness is? do you know what it looks like? if so, you'd know the end of the conversion harness that the original ecu plugs go into is the same as the end of a obd2 ecu. you can't just go to a junkyard, rip apart an ecu, pull a pin out, and walk out. these pins aren't connected to any wiring on the car; they're inside the ecu, and other electronics such as the abs computer.
i'm talking about the one and the same thing the whole time. this is a obd2-obd1 conversion harness i'm asking about here, it'd be pretty hard to find one at a junkyard. not a lot of people convert their cars from obd2 to obd1.

any computer parts store should have them in stock (a computer building parts place not like compusa). I have some OBD0 ones if you need them but I'm not sure they are the right size

hmm, i had no idea a computer parts store would have it. i'll have to find one tomorrow. you're right, there are 2 different sizes of pins. i need the smaller one.

i BUILT MY OWN BREAK OUT BOX (B.O.B.) CAPS sorry, I pulled ECMs and some length of engine side harness from junk cars (free), desoldered the plastic connectors from the ECMs and made my own harnesses for use to diagnose with my portable oscilloscope and laptop.
If you cannot find a like pin from another control unit then you will have to buy a cheap ECM.
Or you can do what I said the last time. Drill a hole in the plastic where the broken pin is, insert a wire and solder it to a piece of that pin that is still on the circuit board inside the ECM or completely remove that pin (desolder it) and solder the wire directly to the circuit board (I vote against direct connection, mother board doesnt like too much heat), splice your new bypass wire to its partner on your adaptor (crossover) harness.
I use a handheld propane torch to desolder the entire plastic connector and all of its pins from the ECM mother board and toss the ECM. I learned that I need to attach the other half of the harness that I also cut from the car (now I have the male and female halves) to act as a heat sink. In the beginning I was overheating the ECM connector and melting the pin plastic holes and the pins were no longer straight in the plastic connector and would not align up with its mate (engine harness).
The pin that you need is shaped like an L on the back side of the ECM plastic connector on the inside of the ECM, I use a wire twist tool to put wire on the L pin and solder and shrink wrap to build my extension harness for my B.O.B., you can just twist the wire on by hand and solder and heat shrink wrap if you like, right near the mother board, feed the wire through the plastic connector, drill another hole in the top (or bottom) of the plastic connector to feed your bypass wire to your adaptor harness, spice in, solder, FIXED. Chalk it up to experience.

i have no idea..i was looking for a side molding n saw him selling ecu pins so i remembered about someone posting bout ecu pins n i threw a link for u to check if thats what u looking for

ok, i still can't find this dam pin. the dealer doesn't sell them seperately. computer stores don't have them, i tried 2. i tried radio shack, nothing there. i looked at a junkyard for these and i can't find the correct size. in the middle of the pin its very narrow, and the pins off of regular plugs are way too big. this is the 1 dam thing i need to find before i can get my car tuned.
anybody have any other ideas on where to look for this?
