Default 1990 Accord W F22B having idle problems

Hey guys, this is my first post on here. I just bought a 1990 Accord from a friend who swapped in an F22B DOHC non-VTEC motor in it. great car but is having a terrible idle problem. With the EACV (or idle air control valve) unplugged it idles between 1400 and 1550 RPM, and when you plug in the EACV it idles at 3K, no matter wether its a cold start or a warm start. i tried searching for a similar problem on here but everyones idleing issues seemed to be different than the ones im having. thanks for the help you all.

Tony

Look on the side to see if it say pt3 or pt6 if it says either one you'll need to get a different ecu bro! Hit up a junkyard and tell them you need a ecu for a 92-96 honda prelude or you can chip a p06! Hope that helps.

Hey real quick i was looking around and i see that a P06 is from a honda civic. should i be running a P06 ECU or does chipping a P06 mean something else? Its been waaay to cold for me to go hunting for mine to see what i have, but i will check it out by tomarrow afternoon. thanks again for all the help guys.

The car wouldn't run with the p06 without chipping it, you could run a p14 ecu also!

OK well i checked and it seems that i have a p39 ECU. WTF is this? remember my F22b is a DOHC non Vtec. is this an ECU that i can run or should i go get a p14? thanks for the continued help man.

heres a pic of the label ---> http://viewmorepics.myspace.co...51015

That's the correct ecu for the jdm f22b! Is every sensor hooked up? Sound like a vacum leak bro check around the intake manifold for anything unpluged!

Well, you guys arent going to believe this, but i decided to take off my thermo valve under the throttle body and adjust the white screw for the hell of it. WELL, lo and behold, that bitch was all the way out and floppin around in there!!! so i took it apart and cleaned it, then tightened it all the way down. well now my problem less of an issue, but my car idles at about 1800 untill warm, but once its warm it still idles at around 1500 RPM. could this be due to air pockets in the coolant track? when i took the hose off the thermo valve, only a few drops came out. i think tomarrow im going to burp the cooling system and add some to it since im sure it needs it. if anyone has any other ideas as to what my high idle could be, please chime in. also, can someone tell me how i can get this damn trial name off my nameplate and be able to add an avatar??? thanks

Its more than possable that you could still have the wrong ecu. Did you ever check to see if it was the proper match up for the tranny your running? ie...5 speed ecu with 5 speed tranny pwered car

just a thought

yea i checked it out about a week ago and its the right ECU for the trans, though im not sure if that matters, but good lookin out. my idle is getting better, but every once in a while i get a CEL for the IACV. ive cleaned it out 2 times and still seem to have an intermittent IACV problem. ill be buying one of those shortly.
