Default Bad Timing Light?

I checked my timing for the first time since my h22 swap. The dizzy was already all the way advanced before I even started the motor. I retarded it just a little and drove it a few weeks before I could borrow a light from a friend. Car ran great with no problems. Well I checked the timing, and I could not see any marks on the flywheel unless the dizzy was all the way retarded. And then I could just barely see a white mark. Anyways, I left the dizzy retarded all the way bacause the timing is still advanced. But now my car is boggy as hell. Also my car missfires every now and then. Before I change my timing belt to fix the problem since I believe my problem is with the belt advanced a tooth, should I try another timing light?

Incase I make no since above. Im merely asking if timing lights can go bad and give un-acurate readings. Thanks

Anything can go bad

I wouldn't ghetto rig your spark timing to make up for your cam timing being off....Don't drive that car until you make sure that the belt is on right
