Crank pulley is "shaking" a little, normal?
Is it normal for the crank pulley to wobble a little, or shoud I get it checked, just noticed it today. A belt was making screaching noise and it looked like it was due to the pulley.
Thanks

Torque is not the real issue, if it's tight it shouldn't wobble. Check to make sure the rubber is not broken, yes there is a rubber part in the middle of your crankshaft pulley. It it acts like a harmonic balancer or I think it basically is one. That is one of the reason why you don't want to change your crank pulley to underdrive pulley because they don't have the same characteristics.

I'd get your pulley taken off and checked for damage. I had a similar thing not long ago and the keyway on the pulley had been damaged. It was all due to the crank pulley bolt not being torqued up properly during the last cambelt change

OK, I got underneath the car, and couldn't see anything broken, need to get a torque qrench to verify that it is toerqued to spec. But I couldn't feel it loose with my hand, only when I start the car it looks like it was loose. Does anyone know if the crank pulley of an F22 is similar to H22, so I can compare them?
the keyway ring may have broken out, dont drive the car until you verify if its a problem or not, the car i fixed bolt was torqed but the pulley was cracked out around the keyway and causing belt squel and wobble

Mine got lose too recently. It came so lose that all the accessory belts came off. I was able to put the belts back on and tighten the crank pulley enough to drive it to a honda dealership. They said that there was nothing wrong and it just came lose....that doesnt make sense!
The only reason they will come loose is if they weren't tightened up properly the last time they were off!

You have to use a special pulley holder tool that keeps the pulley from rotating. Then you can use a proper spec torque wrench to tighten it to 181ft/lbs. One of my torque wrenches goes to 250ft/lbs, you need a big one.

The exact same thing happend to me. In fact, in my situation there was no sign of trouble at first but then one day all of a sudden the pulley bolt snapped in half while i was driving. Needless to say it caused damage.

If you get access to some air tools and a compressor this would be the easiest and best way to ensure you get the bolt on up to spec. Not to mention it would be a lot easier to take it off.

Mine wobbles too, it sucks since my motor only has like 71k miles on it. Mine wobbles even though it's a brand new pulley, belt etc. My fiances dad changed my timing belt when I was out of town last year and then the pulley came off while driving which messed up the keyway & the woodruff was lost, then when I was out of town on business a few months later (after he re did the timing belt) the belt snapped. Now the pulley wobbles & it's torqued right. I think that the crank is fuxred inside since there is a new bolt through it & it still does it. I bought a spare crank that is in my closet, and I will start collecting parts to rebuild it as soon as my turbo civic is done. But, mine only wobbles below about 1200 rpm's, over that & it seems fine, so it should last at least a decent while before the vibrations tear up the bearings and everything.
