Default TPS voltage reading jdm h22a

Where can I find the TPS voltage level for a jdm h22a obdII? Dropping my engine in tommorrow and I need to know what the meter should read at Idle and at WOT. I have heard the reading at WOT doesnt matter, but I would like to know what it should be anyway. Thanks - Mark

Reading should be at .45V at idle, WOT should be around 4.5 if i remember right, but yeah it doesn't really matter cause if u have ur idle set right ur WOT should be set right too. The easiest way I've found is just backprobing the wire at the ecu, if u have an ecu wiring diagram just use that to figure out which wire to use, if not, just look at the middle wire at the tps connector, mines red/black, not sure if urs is or not, but anways, follow that back to the ecu, then backprobe it with a multimeter than the other probe to a ground, with the key at "on" position it should read .45V.

Thanks alot JasonST. Prior to posting I did a search and came up with a few different answers. Some said .5 Idle and 4.5 WOT. Granted there isnt much difference between .45 and .5 for the Idle reading, I would like it if anyone could let me know for sure. Also, to actually adjust the tps sensor do you unscrew it and move it around until you get the right reading?

get a helms manual...

idle can be between .45 and .55

how else would you adjust the sensor? yes, unscrew it and turn it

Yeah just unscrew it and turn it clockwise or counterclockwise till u get the desired voltage. The only problem is unscrewing it, since urs is a jdm h22 u should have hex scews i believe, in any case, I've found it easiest just to use a hack saw and make narrow slits through the head of the bolt, so u can use a flat head screw driver. Just make sure u don't pop the tps sensor off, if u do u gotta put it back on a certain way, which took me a while to figure out. Good luck

Thanks very much for your help guys, especially you JasonST. Got my motor in my car and the TPS properly adjusted to .5 at idle. Thanks again guys.

Since you used a good name for your thread, others may look at this in the future during a search. The voltages do matter, they corrospond to idle and the computer knows its at idle based on the .45 to .55 reading, it uses this reading to control idle, you read idle flux problems all over H-T, yes the TPS is not usually the problem, but the computer knows that the engine is at idle .5V and kills fuel injection when the idle goes too high due to another bad part causing the idle flux, its part of Honda's idle strategy. Idle actually goes up above 1200 RPM (approx), the computer sees TPS at idle and thinks the car is decellerating down the highway and cuts fuel injection, then the idle flux starts all over again. At WOT, the computer needs to turn off the AC if it is on to allow you to gain more HP. You need to check the entire sweep of the TPS so insure there are no dead spots (voltage drop outs), move the TPS very slowly from idle to WOT and back down again, hopefully just a plain multimeter will see the dead spot if there is one.

Thanks for posting your fix.
