Default junk yard nightmare? need help....

Hello guys. I am new to the board, but I do know abit about engines. Though, I am no mechanic. So, here goes. I have a 1995 Civic EX. My motor is close to the end...so, I was looking for another D series engine. And I "supposedly" found one with 48,000 miles on it, for $400. So, I got it. I got it home and was looking at it. It is alittle bigger than the one in my car, but I didn't think much of it. As I disassembled it, I bought gaskets for it to port it and so on. I was told the engine was a D16y8. So, that is what gaskets I bought. None of them fit. NONE.... So, I took them all back and the guy there gave me a gasket for a SOHC 1997 Accord. I am assuming the F22b2 or F22b1? I didn't get the gaskets, cause I didn't think that could be so. So what do i do now? No one has a transmission for this thing. If it is what it is. And, I know crap about trannys. Some one told me that it might fit to my D16z6. But, I don't think so. As I said...I know nothing about trannys. So please help. And I really don't have the money for that tranny, if it doesn't fit.

on the front of the block about half way up the left side it tells what block it is. go get the gaskets for that. if it is a d series your stock tranny will work. if it is an f series put it back together and sell it. not worth it to put an f in an eg. if it will fit. it it is a b series sell your stock tranny and start to put together your swap. you will need more. hope that answere atleast part of you ? and good luck. maybe post up a pic of motor or a link that might help aswell.

- Check the engine code.

It's probably the F22, that's the SOHC, accord motor. Old azz deal, worth ****.
