Default VTEC Light. (Noob question)

Sup guys. I'm just wondering, is there anyways that you could build like a simple light to tell you if Vtec is on? Cuz, you can't hear it that well on a SOHC at least. This is so noobish but IDK...

Yes you can. Just get a little LED from radioshack and tee of your VTEC solenoid wire, that way it only gets 12v when your solenoid is powered, and the light will come on.

So you want to Tee into the vtec wire? The one DIYS says something about grounding the wire.
What kinda led do we need to buy?

If you do this, you realize you will have to change your avatar.

And yes you need to ground the neg.(-) side of the LED. When you buy the LED it should have one long and one short side. IIRC the short sied is the neg.

Man, this is freaky! I just replaced my gauge cluster with a JDM one , and when I swapped over the face plate, I had a hole left over where the dimmer switch used to be and I had this bright idea too. Never thought it would get randomly posted and save me the effort of asking around. Thanks guys! Appreciate the good luck and great supply of knowledge!

this is the one i used a long time ago........ they have orange and red also even has red and black wires so you know which is which..... just ground the black wire and the red wire gets t-tapped into the vtec wire..... easy as pie..... and just mount the led somewhere i just drilled a hole in my cluster and put it in there

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062569&cp=&origkw=led&kw=led& parentPage=search
