door lock actuator problem

Default door lock actuator problem

my passenger side door lock (powered) sometimes doesnt work, like for a week it wont work, then for a few days it will work, luckily the actuator is stuck in the lock position. any ideas? btw when i open the door from the outside i have to the hold the key to the unlock position while opening the handle

Could be lack of lubrication, I'd spay some silicone lubricant on it and then a light layer of white lithium grease on top. That might loosen it up.

sprayed the silicone lube in already and nothing....

do you see any moisture inside door panel? any wires being pinched? if the door unlocks and then locks by itself, or you have to hold it in the unlock position for it to open correctly, this usually means the actuator itself is f'd.

stock actuator. but if the thing is f'd how come it still works?

did you try leaving the door panel off and then trying to watch it when you close the door and lock it? Possibly seeing what is happening when you close the door or when it ismoving to lock? Maybe something there. Or perhaps it could just be generally fuxzored.

take the plug off and supply power and ground straight to the actuator.. see what happens.
