Default How many of you are on stock tranmissions?

Im just wondering because I recently had to replace the clutch housing bearing for the mainshaft (started whining really loud on decel at high speeds ie letting off the gas after the finish line), and now its already making a similar noise so Im wondering if I should look into something else.

Honestly, I don't think it's as easy as some people think. There are tricks to making your tranny last longer. Some people have an unimaginable # of passes om stock trannies. Hell Stephanie Eggum still uses a stock based tranny for pete's sake.

Just grenaded mine today after rebuilding about 20 passes ago. Full rebuild with carbon syncros and a cuff. With tranny stock, it lasted alot longer. I truthfully do not believe it is a shaft seperation problem. I think it is the fact that there is just not enough meat on 4th gear to hold high HP. Twice this year I have shredded 4th midway through the gear.
Oh well, unless someone designs a product that holds on which you dont have to mortgage your house to afford, I will be tearing down trannys.

As Art stated, I took my cuff out also. I had never broke a tranny or a gear until I put the Phantom Grip cuff in, I sheered 4th gear on a Dynapack last year then at the track a couple of weeks ago. When we tore it apart we took the cuff out and put stock 5th back in! Tranny worked GREAT! I spoke to Mat Keller after I broke 4th gear and he doesn't run one, Tony doesn't run one, I don't think Brian Ballard or Jason ever ran one so I decided not to run one either. It could just be the Phantom Grip tranny cradle isn't made right like some others have said BUT for years people haven't ran them and so far my experience with one hasn't been good soooo.............

Anyways my tranny is stock B16A with Gearspeed 3-4 carbon synchros, 3-4 slider and Quaife ATBD

There is one problem though....people are still breaking the libertys gear set or else I would have bought one too. But to spend 4k on a tranny and have it still break.......I will wait for them to finish development and think about it again.
