Weird Tranny Noise...
OK, I have a '99 Civic EX coupe with a GReddy 15g kit @ ~12psi, ZEX 105300 cam, an Exedy Stage I Race Clutch and other goodies.
When I get on it hard in first gear sometimes, when I reach about 6000 RPMs it sounds like I have freaking turkey or duck or something in my transmission! It's a weird squeeling sound and I don't know what the heck it is. I just put the clutch in about 2 weeks ago and now have about 570 miles on it. When I had a Stage I XTD clutch in it, it was making the same noise and it only does it in first gear.
My question is, is this noise the clutch slipping or what? How do I eliminate this noise?

lol.
Jesus, what do you think synchromesh is going to do to his 1 gear while at high rpm? Synchromesh can only COVER UP grinds while going INTO the gears. Its not some magic fluid that somehow rebuild a goddamn transmission or clutch.

I've got Castrol GTX 10w30 in the tranny. When I was finishing up putting in my I took out the fill plug on the tranny and the VSS and filled it through the VSS until it was dribbling out of the fill plug. You just gave me a good idea. When I was filling the tranny it was on jack stands so the level may not be just right but I don't think this is why it's making the noise b/c it was making it before I swapped the clutch.

Sorry, but I will never put any kind of GM fluid in my Honda no matter what kind of success other people have had. Thanks for the input though!

Anyone else have an idea?
is it more of a squeel or a growl??
I've rebuilt severl of those trannies due to bad ISB's mainly...but that's more of a growl.
shouldn't be the TOB because it shouldn't be touching the pressure plate unless you're resting your foot on the clutch pedal.
Does it do it in any other gears? Engine brake from 6k rpm and see how the noise is also

It's a squeel. I know it's not the ISB cuz that's why I have this tranny in my car now. The ISB in my other tranny was on it's way out. It doesn't do it in any other gear and it only does it occasionally when I romp on it in first.
