Default Hondata Opinion

In a matter of opinion , which chip would you choose, between the HONDATA S200 , or the S300 . I would generaly think the S300 because of all of the extra features , but is it realy worth it for the money? Wouldnt the S200 contain all of the needed proprties for optimum tunning with a cheaper price tag and less instalation hassle , or is it highly worth all the money and hassle to go with the S300 ?

the way i see it...

s300 if you are tuning yourself
s200 if you are paying for a tune

So I take it that the S300 is more user friendly, huh .

its the program interface that is user friendly. Every program is pretty much the same map wise. 10x20 matrix based on load/vacuum and RPM

Basically S200 is more complicated to tune but good choice for somebody that doesn't upgrading his engine often. To take fully advantage of S300 you should have some knowledge on tuning, laptop and good wideband 02 for data logging.

Let me know if you need any help... I'm a hondata dealer.

customer support....uh.....pgmfi.org is about the only support you can get when John Cui isnt availible.

Ok cool, so I can guess where in the map the cursor is at for free. Either way, chrome pro is the same price as the s100b unit.

I could get into this all day long as I have in the past 3000 threads... but in the end it just wastes my time.

You cannot compare chrome to the s300 unit. If you are a DIY guy that has to penny pinch every way along your build, then go for the free stuff. My clientelle consists of people dropping 10k-25k for builds... so why would I waste my time with something that is 'free' and going to cause me more headaches than it's worth? I would say 90% of the guys that I have seen with 'freeware' EMS's have cars that run like total **** because they think they can go on pgmfi.org, upload a map, and then they are over-night tuners. I would also say 1/2 of the guys tuning these EMS's are over-night tuners who simply add fuel here and there without fully understanding the concept of EFI tuning. I'm not bashing you personally though... I just hate having people come to me with rigged *** set-ups and the majority of them run chrome/uberdata. Yes I know guys out there have hit 600whp with chrome and can run 10's... but let me know how much time they have invested in tuning that unit.

pretty much. I used my zeitronix datalogger to get part throttle the best i could since it can datalog TPS, RPM....ect. WOT isnt any guess work where you are considering its always going to be the last 2 columns

but yea, overall s300 is a much nicer program than Crome and i wouldnt mind upgrading to it in the future but the Neptune RTP is calling my name as well.

edit:

HOW DARE YOU!!

I am a fan of the Neptune RTP

Sorry I'm so hostile... I just hate half-assed ****. I associate these freeware ems's with half-assed set-ups because not once have I had a customer bring me a 'freeware' set-up with zero problems. They usually have **** hanging here and there, wires everywhere, etc etc. So yea... whenever I hear someone that wants a tune with uber or chrome I say no

just my opinion but s300 because its easy to put in and its clean, it also gives you more or less everything you want like datalogging and all the other stuff that i dont know how to use but still makes you think "this was so woth the $$$'s"

i can attest to the wires being everywhere...

datalogging usb cable
ostrich USB cable
wideband USB cable

i try to keep it clean tho

Right now I'm trying to decide between a race bucket and harness (considering i no longer have an airbag) or the Neptune RTP......decisions decisions

an ostrich (an emulator created by Craig Moates ...www.moates.net) is what allows tuners to tune in Real-time (making immediate changes on the fly without a hiccup from the motor). It attaches to th ecu via emulation cable and connects to the laptop via USB.

Is there any point in having the S300 be a first or second mod?

tuning is a great addition to even a stock motor. I am very bias towards getting tuned even when you dont have much done. After tuning my car, everypoint of RPM was more peppy and it was all around a much more fun car to drive. But i tune for myself so its quite a bit cheaper for me than it would be for people getting charged for a tune.

I tuned a bone stock rsx type s (k20a2) and after a basic street tune he ran .8sec faster on the 1/8th mile. That to me is DAMN good for only a tune on a completely STOCK rsx.
