If it sat for a long time I'd say to change the trans fluid twice in a short time; drain and refill with 3 quarts of Honda Z-1 ATF, drive around for about 50 miles and then drain and refill again.

go ahead and check the fluid first, if there's a lot of floating particle, don't flush it out, most of the time those dirty fluid is the only thing shifting the car even tho it's shifting rough, it's better than not shifting at all.

oh another thing. how do i drain the tranmission fluid? where is the leaker valve located? is it similar to draining the oil?

If it is the transmission fluid that needs to be changed, is this a common problem? i mean the car shifts automatically into every other gear just fine. but right before it shifts into 2nd it hesitates and then kicks back before grabbing 3rd gear? I really appreciate you guys suggestions

look for a 3/8 inch square hole, that's the drain for most honda, manual or auto.

fill hole is dipstick hole

honda recommend 30k for complete change, people who really concern about their expensive tranny do it every 10 k.

it's spare change money compare to other car, i did an atf change on my gf's vdub and it's 100 buck worth of fluid there the atf honda sells is around 6 dollar?
