Not sure which forum this belongs in but this looks like the best spot.
I used to own a 98 ls, sadly it was involved in a wreck and now I am looking for a new car. Budget is fairly limited, the cars i looked at were gs-r's, civic si and 5th gen preludes. Ive also looked at some wrx's (wishful thinking). Ideal situation would be to pick up a gsr, however all the ones ive found either have too many miles, or are molested.
Im not too fond of the 02-05 si it just felt like a boat. The rsx i drove (base) was nice, but it felt weaker than my old ls for some reason.
Test drove some preludes and was pretty pleased at the amount of pull they have compared to my old ls. My main concern is 'tossability'. The cars I test drove had the dealer in them so i really couldnt thrash the car around like i would during autox.
My question to you guys is, if you had to choose another car instead of an integra, but same price range, which car would you lean towards?
Im not really hardcore into racing, but i enjoy attending autox events when I can, and the occasional spirited drive. I also plan on eventually converting my car into full race car, that is after I land a nice job and pick up a daily driver.
I am leaning towards 5th gen preludes, but wanted others opinions.
Also I have seen a type R for sale here on h-t, for just a bit out of my price range (but do-able). It is however in a neighbouring state, and im hesitant of buying a boosted car (jrsc).
Thoughts, opinions, flames?

i say go for the prelude...just make sure its not an SH because if you decide to make major power the ATTS craps out at around 250 hp....so stick with a base, i have my LS and my prelude SH and enjoy the prelude immensely
Personally, I would never buy a car that is modified, rims at the most. You never know who did the installs, even if they have receipts etc, I PERSONALLY wouldent buy one. I think the Prelude isnt a great choice, based on your autox ambitions, and personally, I think a civic is the weakest choice in the group. However, if cost is your main issue, the civic will be cheaper to get parts for and such, and the prelude will be the most expensive. I think the Integra has the perfect balance between the 3 cars, and should provide you with years of reliable power and serive, if she is built right.
So, sum up my rant, get an integra, and pray that it doesnt get stolen...or move to canada, where we can leave our cars running with the door open and it wont get stolen

my list goes
evo

srt4
z28 camaro
CLEAN dsm
only fast cars that handle well, no slow honda bucket thats takes massive modds to make fast or a motor swap into a light body to make fast.

i say stick with an integra, if you were happy with your last one. there are other options out there, such as 240, GTI, early model Eclipse, etc. just depends what you want. but, to me personally, the integra strikes a good balance of price, reliability, space, ease of working on, available aftermarket parts, daily driveability, track ability.
i'd agree to stay away from something modded out, which is pretty hard to do with an integra, and even harder with a gsr. if a good gsr isn't easily found, why not just go back to an ls or rs? it's not like it's difficult to make an ls perform like a gsr, especially if you're gonna turn it into a dedicated track car in the future.

Well then i stand Corrected. Maybe its just where he lives. i guess i can kinda believe it. whenever i go to my GF's House(she lives out west"Suburbs") out in the west Island, they dont even lock there front doors.
every time i go over her dad ask's me Why im locking the front door.lol. So maybe it really depends on the Location you live in. you wont Catch me Leaving Anything Unlocked. I even put a Password LOCK on my PC.

acutally a miata isnt a bad choice. This guy locally works at LG Motorsports (Corvette and Camaro) performance shop anyway he has a fully built N/A Miata and smokes the vettes at that shop. I ran him once (I have a lightly modded GSR) and I was amazed how fast his car was. The only down side about a miata is the size and you can only hold 2 people, but if your not worried about that a miata isnt a bad choice.
IMO there is no alternative to an integra. There are endless things you can do to it and thats what makes it so universal. although the same things can be said about an EG.
