Retro HID & fluted lense beam pattern
Im looking to see what the beam pattern looks like, with retro-fitted HID "projectors" not plug N play HID kits
with fluted OEM headlight lenses
I have seen a few people have this setup on this fourum, but none show the beam pattern or cutoff line

it would cause some glare. lets say u park close to a wall...then u will see all the extra glare on the wall. ill look for better pix with them aimed closer to a wall

im confused...... because you say the beam battern looks like that through OEM headlights, but there is diffrant types of OEM headlights.
EK headlights are clear lense
DC headlights are clear lense
and
EG headlights are fluted
EF headlights are fluted
DA headlights are flued
can someone vouch for the cutoff looking that good through fluted lenses

i thought it would look cool with the projectors hidden behind the fluted lense's but if its going to create glare, id rather have the lenses cleared
The few retrofits I've seen using fluted lenses have produced pretty decent results. The projector is usually close enough to the lens where the light is only passing through a small portion of the fluting, so the effect on the beam pattern and cut-off is minimised. It's not 100% deal, but it's incredibly better than sticking a drop-in kit in the stock housings.

Are you referring to the JDM ITR HIDs, or the USDM halogen projectors?

More or less, yes. As I said, there are variables involved, such as the projectors used, where they're positioned in the headlight housings, etc. However, the results should be satisfactory if done properly.

i have mdx pojectors retrofitted and they are amazing they are not that expensive either. cutoff is awesome if you dont color mod them as soon as u start coloring moding the cutoff gets a little blurry. my cutoff line is like someone took a ruler and drew if accross my headlight lol. it looks good and forground lighting ina halogen projectors are a bit better then the hid projectors just my opinon but some people see it different.
in a fluted lens i think it would create more of a shatter effect of the beam i suggest getting some cheap aftermarket headlights and retroing them because why cut up oem headlight when you can get a cheap aftermarket without the fluted lense. but to each their own.
