IAC Valve has anyone ever solved this problem? 2000 EX Manual
I have a 2000 Civic EX with a edelbrock turbo kit and other mild performance upgrades. I bought the car in September, and three weeks later the code went off for the first time. Since then I have checked the iac by cleaning and making sure it opens and closes, installed new wire to the valve to the computer reset the computer many times, and replaced the computer. It will run fine for about three weeks as long as i dont let it idle for more than 2 min. As soon as the check engine light comes on it will run like hell and I will un-plug the computer for 20 min or sometimes over night and let it idle for about 30 min and it is back to fine. Does anyone know any other methods that have actually worked. I have looked through a lot of posts and no one updates them with actual results. I see some people replace the valve which is expensive and still does not fix the problem. I have not purchased a brand new one yet because of this. Please help and thank you in advance.
Did the car use to be an auto? If so it could be that the pervious owner didnt do the 3 to 2 wire conversion. but if you ran new wire to there correct locations then that wont be it. I would try another IAC.
I know the previous owner, I did most of the work on the car before I purchased it, I really dont think it was ever an auto. It only has the two wires (black with yellow line which goes to a junction that I have not touched yet, and black with blue line that goes to the computer which I have changed.)
